Canister System

Will my spray gun fit your hose?

Yes, all common canister adhesive spray guns fit our hoses.  However, if you are changing to using G50 or G52 you may need to change the spray tip.  Please contact our technical department for more advice.

Will my hose fit your canisters?

Yes, all common canister hose connections fit our canisters.

If I change to your canister adhesive, can I use my old gun and hose without flushing the system through?

In most cases this is possible, as long as you are changing from a solvent based adhesive to solvent based adhesive. You cannot use exisiting equipment if you are changing from waterbased to solvent based, or vice versa, as this will congeal the adhesive. If you are changing to using G50 or G52, you may need a new spray tip.  Please contact our technical department for advice.

What is the coverage of Gekko canister adhesives?

Coverage varies according to the technique of the operator and the substrate conditions, but a guide coverage is listed under each product.

What is the shelf life of Gekko canister adhesives?

Shelf life is approximately 12 months from date of purchase when stored between 5 and 25 Celsius (40 and 75 farenheit).

Do I need to remove the spray tip after using the canister?

In most cases you do not need to remove the spray tip, but you may find that there is a build up of adhesive on the tip after continual use.  This can be removed using Gekko solvent cleaner or even just picking the residues off by hand.

The exception to this rule is G42.  The tip of G42 should be removed after use and left to bath in the solvent supplied.  If this is not done, then the tip will cure up and will not be able to be used again.

Do I need to close the valve on the canister after use?

In most cases you do not have to close the valve of the canister after use.

The exception to this rule is for G42, G50 and G52 products.  Due to the unique technology in the adhesive, it has been found that it is better to close the valve after use and to purge the hose through to release most of the pressure.  For more advice, please contact our technical department.
